BURBERRY RECEIVES SBTI APPROVAL FOR ZERO NET EMISSIONS TARGET

Burberry is the first luxury fashion brand and one of the first companies in the world to receive approval from the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative for its net zero emissions goal.

Burberry has set a goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2040.

Burberry's goal of zero net emissions builds on the British luxury brand's long-standing commitment to reduce its direct and indirect environmental impacts and make a difference in the lives of people around the world. Burberry is currently carbon neutral in all of its businesses globally, all the electricity it uses comes from renewable sources, and nearly all the products it produces have a social or environmental benefit. Over the past five years, Burberry's community programs have positively impacted over 1 million people.

Caroline Laurie, VP of Corporate Responsibility, Burberry:

“The Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative plays a vital role in ensuring that corporate ambitions align with the latest climate science and will help address the climate emergency. Grounding our commitments in science has always been a priority at Burberry, so we can ensure that the steps we are taking will have the necessary impact and produce lasting change. We continue to challenge ourselves to drive measurement, improvement and transparency in our operations and are committed to continuing to work with our suppliers and partners to accelerate the adoption of more sustainable practices. We hope this encourages others to do the same ”.
